Blast on Railway Track

15 Dead, 25 Injured
There has been a blast on the railway track near Lahore railway station early in the morning. 25 people are injured and 15 are dead. The train left the station at 10:30 am and blast happened at 11:00 am. Investigative report stated that the bomb was planted near the track. The railway track was completely damaged, due to which the arrival and departure of the trains is disturbed. When we asked the TT Asadullah Chaudhry he said “After the departure of the train after 10 minutes I heard a blast when I was in the office.” After that blast there was chaos and many of them was injured he added. Injured are shifted to the Meo hospital of Lahore. Sources said that the condition of many injured are not good.

To love and to be loved is the best thing that happens to a person. People love to celebrate “Love Day” commonly known as “Valentine’s Day”. People used to wait for so long for this day just to say those three magical words. The selling of teddy bears, perfumes, chocolates, cards and roses get high. Prices of flowers also gets high, single flower costs Rs40 and above. Many shops are specially decorated for 14th February everything with red, red stuff bears, heart shape, chocolates and red cards etc. Talking to one of the shop owner of the Asif book store near Gulshan-e-Iqbal they have all types of bears which are mostly wanted by boys, and they have a range 1000-20,000/- . Things that sell most are handmade things, cards and most importantly the bear which cost Rs20,000 had been sold. He also said “This year the business is less than last year about 30% less profit.” People wear red dresses to celebrate this day. Arrange surprise lunch and dinners to please their loved ones. “Mostly customers buy things for their fiancĂ© and we guide them what to buy” another shopkeeper at Subhanallah. “The purchase of teddy bears, chocolates, cards, perfumes and handmade art working rise up to 50%-70%” he added. Not only unmarried boys and girls celebrate this day, but happily married couples too. “We always have a dinner outside on Valentine’s Day, give presents to each other as well” said Mrs. Farheen Wasim a house wife. Love is everywhere, but there are different ways to celebrate it. Some celebrate it on a particular day and some said to cheer love it should not to restrict to one day only.

Dawn News wants to see the world through your lens





On 29th January there was a guest lecture held in mass communication department.  The guest speaker was a producer and a host of Dawn News channels Ovais Ahmed Tanweer Mangalwala. He came to introduce a new TV show named “Citizen Journalist”. In the starting of the lecture he made the interactive session with the students. He was promoting the importance of citizen journalism. He also bestowed the concept of the show “Citizen Journalism” in which reporter may send different kind of pictures of strange issues which media is not highlighting. He also told about the format of the show in which they may set a topic for a week and viewers send pictures and videos on it, they would choose 5-6 best of them and show on it the TV, and they are also planning to train the new comers through this show. They also show some images which were sent by people. Ovais Mangalwala also gave the key points of the importance of citizen journalism and suggested the students to be part of it. The reason to begin this show is to give a platform to those who have some talent but not getting the chance to present it.

 After guest lecture Miss Humera, teacher of mass communication department thank Mr. Ovais for coming to university and sharing his thoughts and experience. She congratulated him for starting the magnificent show. 
After these lectures there was an activity, the Girl named Hira from marketing department present some clipping of  Mast Morning with Maira. She was taking the feedback from the girls about the show. What people like to watch and what changes to do they want on the show. Girls gave lots of suggestions for the show. She thanked for the corporation of the students.
